Another brief post just to let you all know that the Third International Falconry Festival photographs should be up here soon! Hopefully I will sort through them over the next week or too (as soon as exams are over and I'm slightly less stressed!). I had a BRILLIANT time in Al Ain at the festival; met some truly inspirational people and saw some spectacular sights - and I look forward to sharing some of it with you soon!

Third International Festival of Falconry

This is just a quick post to let everyone know that I am away between the 9th-18th December in Abu Dhabi at the Third International Festival of Falconry, the holiday I was awarded for having my photograph of an eagle owl make the finals in their competition.

The awards ceremony takes place on the 15th and I hope to update this page with results and lots of photographs soon after I get back!

Shark Apprentice - Sussex Cricket Calendar/Card

I have spent a fair amount of my time over the last couple of months working as one of the Shark Apprentices, developing my idea of a photographic cricket calendar and working with two other young people to develop this product as well as a Christmas card. The Shark Apprentice scheme was developed by the Sussex Cricket in the Community Trust, a charity which aims to help groups in society that may be at a disadvantage when it comes to cricket, like those with disabilities, visual impairments and learning difficulties. They also help youths and women to get involved in the sport and fund the development of cricket grounds, such as Blackstone.

The calendar and cards we have developed are being sold across Sussex, and all of the money we take goes directly to the Chairman of the charity. Below I have included some examples of the photographs that are featured in the calendar; some of which are my own and some have been contributed from the Sussex cricket website.

Abu Dhabi - Falconry Festival 2011

I have recently been informed that I have won an eight day, all expenses paid trip to Abu Dhabi for two, by making the five finalists in my category with the following photograph;

During the eight days, the preparations for the 2011 Falconry Festival will be taking place, and the festival itself lasts for two days and is a huge event with artists, falconry experts, bird owners and the like gathering to witness a wide range of beautiful birds - such a great photo opportunity.

During the week, all entries shall be exhibited and the winner of each category shall be announced and awarded the £500 prize, however for me the real award is this once in a lifetime opportunity, so thankyou to all the organisers for allowing this to take place.

The festival is not until December, however I hope to keep you updated with any developments and news about the event and will post about the experience as soon as I return.

I've just bought a new macro lens - tamron 90mm - which arrived today and which I am extremely happy with :) Information about a poppy field was leaked to me and I managed to hunt it out this afternoon and grab a few shots.

Yes, it's my birthday as everyone keeps very thoughtfully reminding me! And I managed to spend 10 minutes in the bluebell woods near my school with my camera and took a few pictures; nothing great but it was nice to get away from the garden and see so much blue.

I have also taken a few more pictures of my cat and a couple of black and white images of plants, which I am trying to experiment with a bit more at the moment.

The weather isn't looking great for the next few days but I will try to upload some more pictures soon.

Hello everyone, I know I did say that I would be uploading a few more photos after the week end but I didn't really take that many. I managed to get enough motivation to leave the house, got to Bosham and it absolutley poured with rain before I had the chance to take more than about three photos so that wasn't very successful. The weather is looking pretty bleak for the next few weeks so I guess I will just have to be creative and improvise with things inside the house...so much for turning my attention towards landscapes and the outdoors!
